I always want to strive for high quality
■You yourself have a strong sense of fashion. Or rather, you have a strong understanding of the style you like.
"When it comes to the items sold at UZ Fabric , I never compromise on whether I think they're good or not. I wouldn't say I can compromise - I just want cool items. Fashion comes in all different shapes and forms, but I prefer things that are 'cool,' so I want all of my items to be that way. There are so many remade items out there, especially remade kimonos."
■That's right.
"Yes, there are, but they are a little different from the image I have of what makes a kimono great. I wanted to create products that make use of the original kimono designs and beautiful textiles. That's why I use the word 'upcycle' instead of 'remake'."
■This is a very general question, but how would you explain your definition of "cool"?
"Hmm, I wonder... It's really a matter of feeling."
(Kanemitsu / Brand Director) "Mr. Koderasawa really loves beautiful things. His commitment to beauty is incredible. Being close to him, I can really feel that. He is always on the lookout for beautiful things, and has a very strong desire to see beautiful things of the highest quality. Things with a perfect shape, things of an overwhelmingly high level. It's not that he likes those things, but rather that he only accepts those things. Whether it's expression or objects."
"Yes, I think so. I like refined and beautiful things, things with sophisticated design and shapes, and so on."
